My name is Abraham Tori, and I founded MAISON CASTÈU because of a love I have for European art and culture. I come from a Hispanic background, having a Peruvian father and Mexican mother. Textiles are such an important part of both these cultures, in the suits, dresses, uniforms, colors, dances, and history of the people who live in these countries. The natives of the Andes have to construct durable and breathable garments and gear to withstand the extreme climate and terrain of the mountains. The Mexicans add every ounce of color, detail, and vitality to their clothing to express is deep, rich legacy and philosophy. I felt inspired by both cultures to blend durability, sustainability, and visual aesthetics to create the most optimal piece of clothing for you.
Additionally, I’ve observed that the world currently lacks a sufficient amount of people who are invested in something greater than trendy or material things, so I decided I create this company to blend elegant, high-quality clothing with something that is truly impressive, which is the art, culture and philosophies of people that came before us. People who built cathedrals, basilicas, palaces and successful societies.
